Joe,
Great article! Aside from the fact that it is warm story, rooted in the sentimental feelings we feel when we return to a place that feels like home (or actually is home), it is a wonderful reminder that a part of student ministry, at it's heart, is helping the youth to see the value of the whole body and not just the youth group. Keep those great articles coming! See you in New Orleans

Joe, I love this article, because I remember those days so well. We always appreciated your youth helping with our Seniors Pep Club. I always have a warm feeling toward the Ball family, because I was Chairman of the Personnel Committee that brought you to Edgewood! Keep remembering the "good ole days" and put them in print. We old timers love to read about them. May the Lord bless the Joe Ball family!

The common thread we see over and over is relationship. Our culture in the U.S. has forgotten this - with the loss of the extended family we lost relationships in most other areas of life. Children and teenagers learn from their role models, wherever they find them - at home, at church. A paradox, eh? We worked so hard to have "youth programs," not realizing the segragation that this will typically (but not necessarily) bring.
